Thursday 8 December 2016

Sort of says it all, really!!

A very Merry Christmas or whatever holiday you observe to everyone and all at k shoes Male Voice Choir hope you have a healthy and enjoyable 2017!

Friday 11 November 2016

Someone please explain to me why these would not attach to my last posting?! Well, they're here now....

Thursday 10 November 2016

Being applauded by the country's leading male vocal group was just one of yesterday's highlights, which says it all really!
Thanks to everyone involved, including, of course, Rob Shillitoe's Man Band from QKS, The King's Singers, ourselves and the audience all thought you were amazing!!
As Peter Kay's Dad famously said about garlic bread....."it's the future" or rather it should be in this case "You're the future"...... and it looks and sounds great for the future of male voice singing!

Saturday 5 November 2016

Tickets selling nicely but still some good seats left, I don't want anyone not to get in because we run out so if you're on the fence I advise you jump down on the side of instant purchase! tickets@kshoesmvc.org or 01539 725133.

You will be helping a fantastic local charity, St John's Hospice costs £4 million to run per annum,
and as it's an afternoon performance you might not have to record Strictly (dependent upon where you live of course!)
and it's an incredibly rare opportunity to see the country's leading vocal group in Kendal, or the South Lakes, or even Cumbria or the North West of England!!!
We are all brushing up our Pokarekare Ana....(you'd know it if you heard it), in the original Maori tongue.
No wonder being in a choir is good for your mental and physical health...where was I, yes,
Wha-ti wha-ti ta-ku pe-ne ,Ka pau a-ku pe-pa.......another ear worm!

Saturday 29 October 2016

So that's The Westmorland Gazette and Lancaster Guardian plus an extra piece for the Rinteln Gospelcor concert!! Just like buses they all come at once! I hope they create a desire followed by fulfillment in the form of purchase of said tickets!

Saturday 15 October 2016

And the latest image in, an incredibly challenging 10"*8" portrait format.....but we don't stand like that in rehearsal or concert I hear you say......I said it was challenging!

Thanks again to Janis Armitage, photographer.

Friday 14 October 2016

Well, this is the first image of our choir culled from those taken last Wednesday, it will replace the year old one currently in use.
We are sorry that eight members could not be with us  due to work, holidays or illness, etc. and look forward to an image of the full Team with the King's Singers in November!
This is a rough image but work is progressing on cleaning up the others, not the members of course, just the extraneous furniture that was unavoidable given our time constraints. Janis Armitage did a great job and managed to get thirty five men to follow instructions.....

Sunday 2 October 2016

Thanks you Rinteln Gospelchor!!

Rehearsal shot of a fantastische chor!!

Many thanks to everyone who in any way contributed to our extremely enjoyable for both audience and our two choirs, concert, last night!
Everyone sang extremely well including the soloists and there was a great and relaxed atmosphere both during and after the concert when we had a great buffet at The Globe, in Kendal.
A marvellous evening with lovely new friends from Kendal's twin town of Rinteln, enjoy the Lakes and Auf Wiedersehen to you all,

until we meet again!

Tuesday 20 September 2016

We had a great time singing a couple of new (for us) pieces at the United Reformed Church in Grange Over Sands last Saturday evening.

A substantial audience were extremely supportive and welcoming and they said we sang well, which is always nice to hear!

Many thanks to everyone concerned, particularly John Basnett and Steve Richardson on their maiden outings as Master of Ceremonies and Deputy Conductor, respectively and who both created a great rapport with our audience, enhancing their enjoyable entertainment for the evening.

No rest for the wicked, 'though, as we work towards our joint concert with the Rinteln Gospel Choir on the 1st October 2016 at 7-30pm at St Thomas' Church, Kendal. It will be an exceptional blend of styles well worth witnessing!!

Wednesday 14 September 2016

A nice relaxed evening of food, drink and a little golf was enjoyed last night at the incredibly hospitable Grange-Over-Sands Golf Club.

Brilliantly arranged by Steve Rooke and Steve Richardson it was a very enjoyable event for all, including uncoordinated non golfers like myself!

The putting and chipping practice sent me back to my childhood in our local Park (jumpers for goalposts era if you get the allusion) coupled with lovely memories of when the kids were small and we all sheltered from a thunderstorm in a Crazy Golf fibreglass tree in Florida (were we carrying lightning conductors? fortunately I'll never know...), thinking about it there was a bit of lightning around last night at the end as well!

Seen with Rookie are some lovely ladies, from left Carol, Ladies Prize Winner Isobel, Claire and June.

As all sports are supposed to be based upon human hunting instincts and physical skills (aiming, throwing, running, propelling heavy objects, etc.) I was left, yet again, with thanks that I did not live in a former age when I would definitely have starved to death.
