Our third concert in 2016 was as enjoyable as the first two, which was a high standard to meet! An excellent night and the audience were extremely generous in their applause and contributions to Cancer Research. Thank you everyone who helped in any way and Beverley MVC, MD and Chairman and members who were great company and excellent singers of standard and some peculiarly ethnic songs, "A Yorkshire Mix" being a fine example!

The evening ended well with a great buffet provided by our amazing Support Group led by Rosemary Irvin.

Not only that! The new staging worked brilliantly due to the great efforts of Harry Upton and Graham Dalzell!

Onwards and upwards........in the case of the new staging, literally!

On Saturday 21st May at 7-30 pm we will be singing in St Thomas' Church, Kendal with Beverley Male Voice Choir for Cancer Research, as arranged by our tireless and highly valued member Jim Plenderleith!

If you can make it please come along, the songs to be sung include some you will not have heard us sing before and some old favourites, approximately the following programme, I say approximately as sometimes things change, as they do!

In my view it will be worth the price of a ticket just to listen to us sung "The Water Is Wide" but I am a tad biased and base this on the way it makes me feel when we rehearse that piece!

On Thursday 5th May some members who were in the choir for many years with Jack Pratt, who was an excellent tenor, made our way to Grange Over Sands to wish him a very Happy 100th Birthday. 
We led the singing of Happy Birthday to You and For He's A Jolly Good Fellow, taking him some cards, a book of photographs of his time in the choir and our sincere best wishes. Jack is an amazing example of a very healthy ex-chorister, a living advert for the emotional and physical benefits of membership....although genes may have a bit to do with it as well! 
Many thanks to Jack's family and friends and the staff of Cartmel Grange Nursing Home for making us so welcome..The first photo shows Jack and his contemporaries, from the left, founder member Derek Halliwell,Brian Winter, Jack, Jim Fielding, Jim Plenderleith and our Secretary Geoff Irvin.The others are from our archives and all include Jack. 

It is hard to realise that he was 53 years old when the choir was formed!
