We had a great time singing a couple of new (for us) pieces at the United Reformed Church in Grange Over Sands last Saturday evening.

A substantial audience were extremely supportive and welcoming and they said we sang well, which is always nice to hear!

Many thanks to everyone concerned, particularly John Basnett and Steve Richardson on their maiden outings as Master of Ceremonies and Deputy Conductor, respectively and who both created a great rapport with our audience, enhancing their enjoyable entertainment for the evening.

No rest for the wicked, 'though, as we work towards our joint concert with the Rinteln Gospel Choir on the 1st October 2016 at 7-30pm at St Thomas' Church, Kendal. It will be an exceptional blend of styles well worth witnessing!!

A nice relaxed evening of food, drink and a little golf was enjoyed last night at the incredibly hospitable Grange-Over-Sands Golf Club.

Brilliantly arranged by Steve Rooke and Steve Richardson it was a very enjoyable event for all, including uncoordinated non golfers like myself!

The putting and chipping practice sent me back to my childhood in our local Park (jumpers for goalposts era if you get the allusion) coupled with lovely memories of when the kids were small and we all sheltered from a thunderstorm in a Crazy Golf fibreglass tree in Florida (were we carrying lightning conductors? fortunately I'll never know...), thinking about it there was a bit of lightning around last night at the end as well!

Seen with Rookie are some lovely ladies, from left Carol, Ladies Prize Winner Isobel, Claire and June.

As all sports are supposed to be based upon human hunting instincts and physical skills (aiming, throwing, running, propelling heavy objects, etc.) I was left, yet again, with thanks that I did not live in a former age when I would definitely have starved to death.

We are very much looking forward to singing some of our new (for us) pieces at the United Reformed Church in Grange Over Sands this Saturday evening, the 17th, at 8-00pm.
Hunker Down, The Water is Wide and Book of Love are really enjoyable to sing and to listen to.
Join us, if you can and we'll all have a great time!

Saturday 3 September 2016

A crack team had a very enjoyable day today raising awareness of our choir and The King's Singers concert, combining recruiting and concert promotion at the Westmorland Shopping Centre, Kendal.
We will see the results by attendance at the next rehearsal and in ticket sales figures, but we all found it great fun!
Several renditions of an a capella Hunker Down with great acoustics attracted some very welcome applause and Graham's new mode of transport proved very popular. Health and Safety was followed rigorously and no one accidentally crashed into the big easel and poster due to the prominent yellow cone......... which fortunately no one tripped over, always a cause for concern in these litigious times....
Many, many, thanks to the team, particularly to Graham for managing the event and to Steve (aka The Pied Piper), Nick, Richard Bl,Tony and John P.
